Abstract:
To provide a DPF fault detection method and a DPF fault detection device capable of being materialized with a simple structure and detecting a fault at low cost.
A theoretical deposited amount in a DPF 4 is calculated from an operating state of an internal combustion engine 2. An actual deposited amount in the DPF 4 is measured with capacitance by a capacitance type PM sensor 6. If a difference between the theoretical deposited amount and the actual deposited amount exceeds an allowable limit, the DPF 4 is determined to have a fault.
