Abstract:
To eliminate the defects that an increase in torque of a torque controlled viscous coupling is produced as a controlling current is applied thereto and significantly great torque (called dragging torque) is generated even when no current is applied thereto.
By carrying a current in the opposite direction to a controlling current to be applied to an electromagnet in the torque controlled viscous coupling, iron powder in a magnetic fluid is magnetized and residual magnetism is removed to generate a magnetic moment in the opposite direction to the magnetic moment thereof, with the result that the residual magnetism in the magnetic fluid is demagnetized.
