PURPOSE: To shorten the retreival time by preparing a drawing data file capable of numerical operation from a drawing file, comparing/calculating the representing measure of parts or the like with the data of the file and selecting the optimum file.
CONSTITUTION: A first data base which is the set of the drawing files for storing drawing information is converted to a second data base by a conversion utility program 1. The second data base is the set of the drawing data files for which the information of the measure or the like for determining the shape of a jig is extracted from the first data base to be reconstituted to the shape capable of the numerical operation and the information required for stipulating the size and the shape of the jig is written. Then, the data of the measure or the like inside the drawing data files and the representing measure inputted from an input device 2 are compared and calculated and the retreival of the drawing data files is successively repeated until the optimum drawing data file is selected. Thus, the retreival is enabled only by the numerical operation and the retreival time can be shortened.
