PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drawing device capable of accurately detecting an already-drawn area with no excess or deficiency, and a drawing method of the drawing device.SOLUTION: A drawing device includes a drawing part 40 for performing drawing to a nail, an imaging part 50 for imaging the nail after an image is drawn on the nail by the drawing part 40 a plurality of times changing the direction that the nail is illuminated by a light source to mutually different directions, and an already-drawn area detection part 815 for creating a composite image by compositing a plurality of nail images acquired by the imaging a plurality of times by the imaging part 50, and detecting an already-drawn area to which drawing is performed to the nail based on the composite image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
