PURPOSE: To prevent generation of a wrinkle and a crack by forming beads on one of a pair of upper and lower holding surfaces, forming a recessed groove on the other holding surface,and making the depth of the recessed groove deeper than the height of the bead.

CONSTITUTION: A press material 21 installed on the upper face of a die 10 is depressed by each holding surface 12, 15 first when a ram descends. In that case, a corner part 17 in a part which becomes a flange 22 of a forming article 16 lightly receives a tensile action in the direction running along a bend side part 18 becuase beads 19 are formed on the holding surface 12 of the die 10. Subsequently, when a punch further descends, the center part of the press material 21 is drawn into the inside of a die hole 11 and formed gradually in a shape of a square cylinder. During this time, a part corresponding to the flange 22 is slightly drawn into the die hole 11 side, compressive forming is generated in the corner part 17, and a metallic flow running along the direction of the bend side part 18 is generated. The material 21 is bent in the bead part and elongated to the length running along the inside surface of a recessed groove 20, and the remaing material is absorbed in the bead part.
