Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance impact resistance by retreating a slider to an outer radial region of a magnetic disc when a magnetic disc unit is not working.
CONSTITUTION: Upon turn OFF of power of a magnetic disc unit, an arm 7 moves to the outer peripheral side of a magnetic disc 4 and thereby a suspension 1 and a slider 3 supported at the tip of the arm 7 also move to the outer peripheral side of the magnetic disc 4. Since the magnetic disc 4 is rotating, at that time, at a speed defined by the inertia the slider 3 moves while floating. The floating operation is stabilized through balance of force and thereby the slider 3 does not contact with the surface of magnetic disc nor vibrate during movement.
