To obtain a dried C-reactive protein(CRP) composition from which existing endotoxin is sufficiently removed in a dried composition of CRP having difficulty in purification due to liability to flocculation and precipitation in an aqueous solvent and tendency of dry denaturation.
This dried CRP composition which can prevent flocculation and precipitation of CRP by adding a saccharide and/or a surfactant and can be readily dissolved in the aqueous solvent while maintaining biological activity is prepared. The dried CRP composition may be further formulated with a stabilizer. The prepared CPR is sufficiently concentrated in an added state of the additive, the concentration of endotoxin is raised, endotoxin is adsorbed on an adsorbent and endotoxin present in CRP can be efficiently and substantially removed, to be concrete, up to ≤2.5 endotoxin unit/mg CRP. Consequently the aqueous solvent readily soluble dried CRP composition substantially free from endotoxin is prepared.
