To provide a drier for a paper machine, which enhances heat efficiency and saves energy in a drying step.

The drier 1 for the paper machine is provided in the paper machine and comprises: a hood 2 having a space formed therein; a drying drum group 4 that is provided in the hood and winds a wet paper 5 thereon; a hot-air supply line 14 for supplying hot air into the hood; a mixed air exhaust line 16 for exhausting vapor evaporated from the wet paper and hot air outside the hood; a compression machine 17 for compressing mixed air exhausted from the mixed air exhaust line; and a mixed air supply line 18 for supplying high-pressure mixed air that is compressed by the compression machine, to the drying drum group.
