Abstract:
A new masonry drill has a shaft (2) with clearing spirals (3), the tip (5) being entirely in hard material, bonded to the end face of the shaft. It comprises a main- (6) and auxiliary cutters (7, 8) each located along diagonals of the drilling tip. The auxiliary cutters project axially beyond the main cutter (6). Preferably, the auxiliary cutters also project out radially beyond the main cutter. The two auxiliary cutters lie along a diagonal, intersecting that of the main cutter at less than 90 degrees , preferably at 10-50 degrees . The main cutter has an inverted V profile in its central region (9).
