PURPOSE: To obtain easily and quickly a billet and ingot consisting of prescribed compsn. with a titled device which melts electrodes by the arc between a pair of the electrodes by constituting the electrodes of ≥2 kinds of different materials.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of electrodes 11 are installed to face each other horizontally apart at a spacing of a suitable length and electric current is supplied to the electrodes 11, by which the arc 12 is formed between the electrodes 11. The opposed ends of the electrodes 11 are melted by the arc 12 and fall in the form liquid drops 15 into a casting mold 16. The liquid drops solidify and the ingot 19 is obtd. The electrodes 11 are constituted by bundling, for example, the materials 21, 22. The materials 21, 22 consist of differently composed alloys and are disposed with a prescribed number according to the desired product compsn. The electrodes 11 are rotationally driven in a direction 13 or 14 while the arc 12 is formed. The liquid drops 15 mixed uniformly with the components of the materials 21, 22 are thereby obtd. and the concn. of the easily evaporatable component is adjusted to the prescribed value with high accuracy. The ingot consisting of the prescribed compsn. is thus easily and quickly obtd.
