To enhance the maximum torque of a motor without relying upon the structure of salient pole of a rotor or the structure of a permanent magnet, and without changing the maximum effective value of a current being input from an inverter.
A control unit includes a current command generation unit 631 for calculating a current command value from a torque command value in order to perform vector control of a rotary electric machine, voltage command generation units 623, 633 for generating a voltage command value of the dq coordinate from the current command value of the dq coordinate, a coordinate conversion unit 634 for supplying the voltage command value of the dq coordinate to a driver while converting into a three-phase AC voltage command value, a coordinate conversion unit 635 for converting the detection value of a three-phase AC current into a correction current of the dq coordinate, and a rotation position calculation unit 636 for calculating the rotor position of the rotary electric machine. In order to perform distortion wave vector control with a three-phase AC current to which distortion wave components are applied, a distortion wave current calculation unit 637 for calculating the distortion wave current components being added to the dq axis current command value, and an operation switching unit 638 for turning the distortion wave current calculation unit on/off are also provided.
