Abstract:

To upgrade print quality by reducing the degree of rotary irregularities such as generated in a blanket cylinder or the like following the shuttle motion of an ink transfer roller and at the same time, ensure the stable transfer of the ink and further, extend the life of a mechanical drive system, as required by a drive device for an ink transfer roller for a printer.

This drive device for an ink transfer roller is of such a structural design that a servo motor 17 is mounted on an ink transfer roller 60' and is controlled by a control means to cause the peripheral speed of the ink transfer roller 60' to coincide with the peripheral speed of an ink fountain roller 55 or an ink kneading roller 59. Therefore, no shock is generated on each of the other rollers even when the ink transfer roller 60' comes into contact with each of the other rollers and consequently, the rotary irregularities of a blanket cylinder 4 or the like are eliminated to upgrade the print quality.
