To provide a technique capable of preventing the initial position of an object to be driven from being displaced.
An SMA 130 is disposed in the installation route between a drive device body and the object 5 to be driven, and heated to an austenitic temperature range to temporarily reduce its length to the stored length. Then, the SMA 130 is mounted on the drive device body to manufacture the drive device. By manufacturing the drive device with this method, stress variation during the installation produced in the SMA 130 can be eliminated. As a result, the responsiveness of the drive device 100 can be stabilized, and the initial position of the object 5 where the tension of the SMA 130 against the object 5 is kept balance with the tension of an elastic force imparting part 140 is prevented from being displaced.
