To provide a drive method and a drive system of a step motor, which obtain precise delivery precision even if exciting current is turned off after driving.
In the drive method in the device where a driven element is driven in terms of microstep with the step motor as a driving source, a second drive condition comprising the number of second microstep drive divisions and a second delivery setting value is adopted in place of a first drive condition when a first drive condition comprising the number of first microstep drive divisions and a first delivery setting value is designated. The driven element is driven with the second drive condition. Exciting current is turned off after driving of the driven element is stopped. The second drive condition is decided in accordance with the first drive condition. The number of second microstep drive divisions is larger than the number of first microstep drive divisions.
