Abstract:
To provide a drive unit of an electric vehicle wherein a secondary voltage of a main transformer of the AC/DC electric vehicle is set high.
The drive unit of the electric vehicle comprises the main transformer 5, an AC/DC converter 3, a PWM converter 10 and PWM inverters 22, 23, and allows a through-operation all through an AC-powered section and a DC-powered section. In the drive unit, the PWM inverters 22, 23 are connected in series to the output of the PWM converter 10, in the AC-powered section by operating changeover switches 15 to 17 by linking them with the AC converter 3, and in the DC-powered section, the PWM inverters 22, 23 are connected in parallel to the output of the PWM converter 10.
