A drive unit for receiving a command torque and driving IPMSM in a system including a detecting section for measuring a position and speed of a rotor of IPMSM includes: an output section for generating and outputting a current command for driving maximum torque per unit current from the command torque; a correction section for correcting the current command which is output by the output section; a feedback section for transmitting voltage information which is over-modulated to the correction section; a control section for controlling the current command and outputting voltage; a restricting section for restricting output of the control section to the maximum voltage which an inverter section can compose; and the inverter section for applying a voltage command of three phases for tracking the command torque to IPMSM.
