Abstract:
PURPOSE: To achieve a subtle braking operation of a vehicle in a narrow structure space with stable braking characteristics especially in continuous braking operations.
CONSTITUTION: This drive unit 1 includes a motor 2, a transmission and a hydrodynamic retarder 4. The retarder is in constant drive connection with the motor 2. The unit also includes a coolant circuit 6 whose coolant is at the same time the working medium of the retarder 4, and the retarder 4 can be utilized as a pump of the coolant 2. The retarder 4 is connected before the transmission and united with a motor brake to form an overall brake unit GBE. The overall brake unit 1 is configured so that the retarder 4 can work in a braking operation sooner than the motor brake.
