To provide a drive unit used for a rotary printing machine improved in the reliability of a clutch provided to a main drive gear train.

This machine is so constituted that speed change transmission devices 90, 95 are arranged in the torque flow between the clutch halves 88, 89 and the gears 81, 82 of the clutch 74.
