To provide a drive unit for a vehicle opening/closing body, which facilitates manual operation of the opening/closing body even if a motor is inoperable.
The drive unit is set up by rotatably fitting an output rotary body 16 linked to the opening/closing body on a pivot 13 of a driving rotary body 14 driven by the motor. The drive unit is comprised of an on-off means 17 which, in normal times, moves in a gap between the output rotary body 16 and the pivot 13 rotating in one body with the driving rotary body 14, in a direction that engages with the output rotary body 16, to thereby link the output rotary body 16 and the pivot 13 together. On the other hand, when manual operation is performed from the outside, the on-off means 17 moves in a direction that cancels the engagement with the output rotary body 16, to thereby interrupt the link to the pivot 13.
