PURPOSE: To make it possible to select any one of general purpose engine or a motor, as a driving source, easily without requiring additional manpower by a structure wherein an engine for driving an air-conditioner is separated from a motor-generator power system, as required, by means of a clutch.
CONSTITUTION: When an air-conditioner is driven with commercial power supply, a clutch 3 is disconnected by means of a shifting mechanism 10 thus separating a general purpose engine 1 from the power system of an air-conditioner compressor 8. Consequently, commercial current is fed from a commercial power supply 18 through a terminal 5c to a motor-generator 5 which thereby drives the air- conditioner compressor 8. Since the general purpose engine 1 is separated from the power system of the motor-generator 5, it is blocked from being loaded on the motor-generator 5 and thereby the air-conditioner compressor 8 can be operated by the motor-generator 5 with relatively low torque.
