Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make a cylinder head compact, by providing an engine output take- out section between the bearing of a crankshaft and a cam driving gear and providing a rotation transmitting mechanism for transmitting the rotation of an intermediate gear engaged with a gear on the crankshaft, to a top cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:A V-engine 1 has a front and a rear cylinder 2, 3 which are inclined forward or backward and integrally provided on a crankcase 4. A crankshaft 5, a main shaft 6 and an accessory shaft 7 constituting a transmission, a damper shaft 8 and an output shaft 9 are supported in the crankcase 4. An intermediate shaft gear 32b engaged with a gear 43b on the crankshaft 5 and a rotation tranmitting mechanism including a timing chain 61b are provided in order to transmit the rotation of the crankshaft 5 to the top cam shaft 25b of a cylinder head 23b (another clinder head 23a is provided but not mentioned here). A gear 42 for taking out the output of the engine is provided between the gear 43b and the gear bearing of the crankshaft 5. The rotation transmitting mechanism is located at the cylinder side of the intermediate gear 32b.
