PURPOSE: To enable a user to specify the degree of polishing for rice as he pleases and prevent overpolishing or underpolishing thereof by controlling the speed of a motor depending upon whether rice in a storage chamber are a new crop or an old crop, and bringing the motor to a halt when polishied rice reaches a predetermined amount.
CONSTITUTION: In a storage chamber, a cylinder is fitted into an outer casing in a manner that they are relatively rotatable with a clearance between them, the cylinder is provieded on top of the outer cylinder and rice are polishied and embryo buds thereof removed by means of a group of slits. In this time, an indicator for new crop or that for old crop is selected and switched on in an operation section 101 depending on whether they are a new crop or an old crop and the rotary speed of a motor is controlled. Next, when polished rice discharged from a polisher reaches a predetermined amount, a signal is given by a rice cooking amount determined means 110, bringing the rotation of the motor to a halt. Accordingly, a user can specify the degree of polishing as he plases depending on the quality of rice.
