Abstract:
PURPOSE: To permit the aged, a child, and the like to get on/off an escalator switched to a low speed, without a feeling of uneasiness by providing a means for changing the operating speed of the escalator from the standard speed to the low speed and returning the operating speed to the standard speed after the specified time. CONSTITUTION: When the aged, a child or a physically handicapped person wants to slow down the operating speed of an escalator, a push button LBS is pressed to excite and actuate timers T1-T4. A high speed relay H is de- energized, while a low speed relay L is excited only for the set time of the timers T1-T4, and the operating speed of the escalator is changed to a low speed by a frequency converter. As a result, the aged, the child, or the like can safely get on the escalator. After the lapse of the set time of the timers T1-T4, the high speed relay H is excited, while the low speed relay L is de- energized to return the operating speed of the escalator to standard speed. Moreover, service to other passengers of the escalator does not have to be lowered.
