To search a magnetic substance in a soft ground while driving a casing for burying a drain member.
When a drain member 2 to the tip 2a of which an anchor member 3 is connected is buried in the soft ground, while the assembly 11 of a casing 4 at the tip 4a of which the anchor member 3 is exposed and into which the drain member 2 is inserted is driven into the soft ground using the anchor member 3 as the insertion end, the magnetic substance in the soft ground is searched by detecting a variation in the magnetic field around the tip 4a of the casing 4 with a magnetic sensor 5 provided in the casing 4 near the tip 4a so that the tip 4a of the casing 4 is positioned within the detection range. Therefore, the working efficiency can be increased. Consequently, the construction period can be shortened, and the economic efficiency can be increased.
