PURPOSE: To enable profiling movement based on the external edge of a contour of a work, by a method wherein a jig plate having a similar guide wall in form to the noncircular work is supported so as to enable it to move freely within a horizontal plane.

CONSTITUTION: A frictional driving wheel 24 is made to touch the exterior of a guide wall 17 of a jig plate 14 which is similar in form to a work 19 and the work is supported by pinching from the inside by two guide rollers 35R and 35L with pressure. The frictional driving wheel 24 is turned by a driving gear 27, which turns the jig plate 14. The jig plate 14 is supported by two free arms 3 and 6 and is movable freely within a horizontal plane. With this, the work 19 supported on the jig plate 14 can be moved in a profiling manner along its contour.
