The reclining bed 1 has the bed frame 4 which can be freely tilted and vertically lifted relative to a base 3 set on a floor surface. The driving device 2 for the reclining bed 1 includes: the first and second links 5 and 6 rotatably linked between the base 3 and the bed frame 4 and symmetrically disposed relative to a vertical surface V; the first and second telescopic actuators 7 and 8 rotatably linked between the base 3 and the bed frame 4 and symmetrically disposed relative to the vertical surface V; the first and second sliding mechanisms 9 and 10 capable of advancing linking points of the first and second links 5 and 6 to the bed frame 4, respectively, parallel in the direction of extension of the bed frame 4; and a restraining member 11 rotatably linked between the bed frame 4 and the first link 5.
