The outer peripheral surface 11e of a vibration actuator 10 between the projecting directions of a clamping member 17 and an electrode plate 15 is counterposed to the outer peripheral surface 4e of a rotating cylinder 4, protruded to the actuator 10 side. Namely, the actuator 10 and cylinder 4 are arranged in such a positional relation that the projecting direction of the member 17 or electrode plate 15 cannot coincide with a line perpendicular to the outer peripheral surface 42, passing the shortest distance between the outer peripheral surfaces 11e and 4e. Since it becomes unnecessary to separate the actuator 10 and cylinder 4 from each other by the protruded amounts of the electrode plate 15 and member 16 and the outside diameter of a lens barrel can be reduced, a driving device can be made compact.
