To reduce the motor output in a driving device in which the required N-T characteristic of a load varies during rotation in the same direction.
A driving device 601 for rotationally driving a load rotation shaft 62 of an eccentric cam 66 in a variable compression ratio engine 80 includes a first motor 11, a second motor 21 and a diode type clutch 50. The N-T characteristic of the first motor 11 is set on the low torque high rotation side relative to the characteristic of the second motor 21. When the required characteristic is the low torque high rotation during the rotation of the eccentric cam 66, the second motor 21 runs idle to rotationally drive the load rotation shaft 62 by the first motor 11. When the required characteristic is the high torque low rotation, the rotary force of the second motor 21 is transmitted to the first motor 11 to rotationally drive the load rotation shaft 62 by synthetic rotary force. By so doing, the N-T characteristic of the driving device 601 can be made to efficiently correspond to substantially inversely proportional load-required characteristic. As a result, the motor output can be reduced.
