Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve starting capability of an internal combustion engine.
SOLUTION: When operation stop of an engine is instructed, the engine is stopped at a position far from the first compression process when starting the engine next time, for example, at a target stop position θt set at the top dead center of a piston in a compression process just before stopping (S106-S112). Engine speed in the first compression process when starting the engine next time is set higher in comparison with the case of stopping the engine at a position near the first compression process to smoothly carry out the compression process by stopping the engine. As a result, engine starting capability is improved.
