PURPOSE: To obtain a driving device which has high responsibility by having cooling fluid forcedly fed around a form memorizing alloy part only.
CONSTITUTION: This driving device 1 is used in a robot hand or the like. The driving device 1 consists of both a primary member 2 made of form memorizing alloy and a secondary member 3 which applies a bias force to said device. A compression coiled spring is used as the secondary member 3. The form memorizing alloy 2 used as the material of the primary member is wiry. The form memorizing alloy 2 is put inside a slim round sleeve 8, thereby forming a flow passage therein. One end of the round sleeve 8 is open at the point before the end of the form memorizing alloy while the other end of the round sleeve 8 is connected to a fluid supply source 10 via both a base 4 and a piping 9. Cooling fluid is discharged from said fluid supply source 10 with the aids of a compressor, a blower and so forth. The form memorizing alloy 2 can be heated by supplying current from a heating power supply 11 via a lead wire 12.
