PURPOSE: To display various signals by one device without causing partial deterioration of the liquid crystal panel.

CONSTITUTION: When a television signal is displayed, a normal driving method is used, but when a computer signal is displayed, a shift register circuit 41a outputs an H-level signal from an upper end to a lower end once vertical scanning is started and a 2nd shift register circuit 41b outputs an H-level signal from the lower end to the upper end. While an ON voltage is outputted in order of signal output terminals X1, X2, X3..., an ON voltage is outputted in the order of X480, X479, X478.... Here, an L-level signal is inputted to a reset terminal RST2 after 40 scanning lines of the display panel from the upper end and 40 scanning lines from the lower end are scanned. Then data from the lower end to the upper end are erased. An ON voltage is outputted in the order of signal output terminals X41, X42, X43... and an ON voltage is outputted to X440 to complete one screen picture.
