Abstract:
PURPOSE:To uniform a level shift quantity which varies with a signal voltage at respective places and to make an excellent display which has no flicker by setting, specially, a scanning voltage to a polygonal voltage which drops gradually from its peak voltage with time. CONSTITUTION:Plural signal electrodes Xi11 and scanning electrodes Yj21 are provided in matrix and thin film transistors(TRs) as switching elements connected to picture elements 41 are provided at the intersections. Then a scanning electrode driver circuit 201 consists of a shift register and the scanning voltage is applied to the respective scanning electrodes Yj21 in order in synchronism with a clock signal CK2 from a control means 301. The scanning voltage applied to the scanning electrodes Yj21 is in such a trapezoid shape that the voltage rises up to the peak value abruptly, has the peak value for a specific time, and falls from the peak value gradually and continuously. Then the scanning voltage is so set without overlapping with scanning voltages applied to adjacent scanning electrodes Yj21 on the time base.
