A cholesteric liquid crystal display device includes: a cholesteric liquid crystal display element 10; a segment driver and a common driver 28, 29 for driving the display element; a multiple power supply generating circuit 23 for generating power supplied to the segment driver and the common driver; a temperature sensor 30; and a control circuit 27. The control circuit controls so that a dynamic driving sequence having a reset period, a switching period, and a maintenance period is carried out, and changes the voltage applied to the cholesteric liquid crystal during the maintenance period depending on a temperature.
