PURPOSE: To improve an S/N by obtaining an electrical signal accurately reading image information by driving an EL light emitting element so as to keep the driving signal of the EL light emitting element at a ground level when the readout of an electric charge is being performed from a photoelectric conversion element, and to emit the EL light emitting element when no readout of the electric charge is performed from the photoelectric conversion element.
CONSTITUTION: The driving signal 103 is used to emit the EL light emitting element. The driving signal 103 consists of ground connection time t4, t6 and a signal generating period t5, and keeps the ground level in a signal readout period t2, and a two-polarity pulse of ±200V is applied to the EL light emitting element in a blank period t3. By using such driving signal 103, the driving signal 103 of the EL light emitting element keeps the ground level in the signal readout period t2 to read out the electric charge accumulated in the wiring capacitor of each photoelectric conversion element 10', therefore, no electric field occurs in the periphery of the EL light emitting element 30, and no noise is supplied to the photoelectric conversion element 10'.
