PURPOSE: To prevent the blocking of sand in the claw-coupling aperture for making the driving work of a steel sheet pile efficiently by attaching a packing bar to the claw of the steel sheet pile to be driven forwardly prior to driving work.

CONSTITUTION: A packing bar 3 is detachably inserted into the coupling aperture C of the claw of a steel sheet pile 1 to be driven forwardly on the land. The steel sheet pile 1 to be driven forwardly is driven underground 4 along a wale, and then the packing bar 3 is pulled out. Then, the packing bar 3' is inserted into the claw portion 2b of the claw 2a of a steel sheet pile 2 to be driven next is driven in line with the claw 1a of the forwardly driven steel sheet pile 1, and then the packing bar 3' is pulled out of the pile 2 driven afterward.
