Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for ultrasonic motors which allows the rotation of a rotor to be controlled adequately.
SOLUTION: In this method for an ultrasonic motor, a mover 6 is moved according to the oscillation of piezoelectric vibrators 5v, 6v installed on a stator 5 and a mover 6, respectively. opposite to each other in pressure-welded state. The method comprises a step, in which a drive signal of a first frequency is generated and applied to one of the piezoelectric vibrators, and a step in which the first frequency is shifted by a specified amount variable to generate a drive signal of a second frequency, and the second frequency is applied to the other of the piezoelectric vibrators. The method adopts a constitution which allows the drive signal of the second frequency to be provided with an accurate frequency difference relative to the drive signal of the first frequency. As a result accuracy of movement control can be enhanced.
