Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a mill controller which is operated in both tilt and crown modes and, one the other hand, with which each saddle is independently adjustable by providing a computer control system which simultaneously drives multiple driving device.

CONSTITUTION: A crown adjustment rack 1 is fixed on a screwed adjustment rod 3 by means of U-shaped clevis pins 2. The screwed adjustment rod 3 is engaged with an inner screw of a worm gear 4 driven by a hydraulic motor 6 via a spindle 7 and a worm 5. Hydraulic oil is supplied to the hydraulic motor 6 via a solenoid valve 8 and a flow rate control valve module 9. Two solenoids 10 and 12 of the solenoid valve 8 are actuated at necessary occasions by an electronic computer 17 with each signal supplied from a digital output board 14 to each of a solid relays 11 and 13. An extension bar 20 mounted on the adjustment rod 3 is mounted on the core of a linear variable differential transformer 15.
