PURPOSE: To enable a driving position display for displaying the position of a driver's own vehicle along with a map on a display to display the current position of the vehicle and a destination on a same screen by automatically changing the scale of the display map.

CONSTITUTION: The distance between the position of own vehicle from a driver's own vehicle position detection means 51 and a destination input to a target input means 52 in advance is calculated by a signal processing means 53 and then a judgment means 54 judges whether the position of the vehicle and the destination can be displayed simultaneously or not on the display screen of a display means 55 with the current display scale. When it is judged that the position of the vehicle and the destination cannot be displayed simultaneously, the scale of the display map should be changed automatically by a scale automatic changing means 56 for automatically changing to the display scale for showing simultaneously and then the current position of the vehicle and the destination are displayed on the same screen.
