A driving support device comprises: a vehicle information acquisition section for acquiring vehicle information from an on-vehicle device; a driving diagnosis section for diagnosing from the acquired vehicle information whether driving of a driver has consumed excessive fuel due to an excessive factor that a vehicle consumes excessive fuel; an advice determination section for determining the level of the driving skill of the driver by a diagnosed results on the basis of variations on an occurrence rate of excessive driving consuming excessive fuel of the vehicle and determining whether or not an advice is necessary according to the level of the driving skill; and a notice control section for outputting the advice for a driving operation of the driver in response to the results of determining whether the advice is necessary or not.
