Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device and a driving support method which are capable of supporting driving in accordance with peripheral vehicles with reduced discomfort to a driver.SOLUTION: A driving support device 1 includes: a dead angle area recognition unit 11 which recognizes a dead angle area DE from a driver P in a course of his or her vehicle M; a road information acquisition unit 23 which acquires road information relating to the course; and a driving support unit 30 which supports driving of the vehicle M on the basis of the dead angle area DE recognized by the dead angle area recognition unit 11 and the road information acquired by the road information acquisition unit 23. The road information acquisition unit 11 acquires information relating to traffic rules for at least one of other vehicles and pedestrians on the course, as the road information, and the driving support unit 11 promotes driving support in accordance with the information relating to the traffic rules.
