To provide a driving support method and a driving support device, capable of letting a driver concentrate on driving by outputting accurate information which never troubles the driver in traveling while detecting a lateral obstacle by use of an imaging means.
When a vehicle advances into an intersection, a CPU 2 activates a side camera CA, and an image processor 10 determines whether the other vehicle parked or stopped near the intersection is located in a dead angle-generating position or not by image recognition by use of side image data G1 taken by the side camera CA. The CPU 2 controls a voice processor 14, when the processor 10 determines that the parked or stopped other vehicle is in the dead angle-generating position, and warns the driver that the other vehicle parked or stopped near the intersection is in the dead angle-generating position through a loudspeaker 15.
