PURPOSE: To provide a drop-type packer capable of continuously receiving and supplying the articles without interrupting the motion of a packing case by forming pockets for accommodating the articles on an article infeed station, and mounting a grid structure for moving the blades from a first position to a second position at a discharge station.

CONSTITUTION: An end of a longitudinally extended supporting rail 102 is supported by the front and back lateral members 108. The blades 118 pivotted on the lateral members 108 and longitudinally extended are mounted on the lateral members 108. The blades 118 have the triangular shape to execute the pivotting motion of predetermined angle against a position for supporting the articles or away therefrom. By the pivotting motion, the articles are dropped downwardly through pockets accommodating the articles on an article infeed station and a funnel structure. Then the article are guided by a means 130 for moving the blades 118 from a first position to a second position through the discharge station, and dropped into a case on a case conveyor by gravity through between elastic fingers 156 to complete the packing. Accordingly, a packing speed can be improved.
