PURPOSE: To provide the titled drug having the protecting activity to the membrane of the digestive tract and hemostatic activity for the digestive tract, and containing a water-soluble salt of aliginic acid as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: A drug for the digestive tract containing a water-soluble salt of alginic acid (e.g. Na salt, K salt, NH4 salt, etc. and having an average molecular weight of 60,000W250,000) and effective to peptic ulcer (e.g. gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, etc.), hemorrhagic gastric sore, regurgitant esophagitis, etc. The agent is pref. a solution containing 2W/V% of the water-soluble salt and has a viscosity of 5W150cps. Dose: 10W100ml daily for gas tric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, and 10W 60ml, 3W4 times daily for esophagitis, etc. The drug has extremely low toxicity and high safety. There is no side effect such as thirst, paropsis, dysuria, etc.
