PURPOSE: To obtain a drug for external use, having a strength for readily breaking on the palm in use and excellent in usability without providing feeling of foreign materials due to residual capsules, by blending microcapsules, consisting of films of gelatin swelled with water and having a specific particle diameter with a polyhydric alcohol.
CONSTITUTION: The objective substance prepared by blending microcapsules, enclosing a hydrophobic ingredient and having gelatin swelled with water as a film material and 0.1W50μm particle diameter with a polyhydric alcohol as essential ingredients and controlling the breaking strength of the microcapsules after blending to 10W300mg/cm2. The amount of the blended polyhydric alcohol in the drug for external use is 0.1W98wt.% and the amount of the capsules is 0.1W95wt.%. A hydrophobic substance (e.g., squalane or bees wax) is contained in the capsules and the weight ratio of the hydrophobic sub stance to the gelatin film is 1:0.01W1:10. The above-mentioned drug for external use is applied to cosmetics, medicines and quasi-drugs.
