Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a medicament containing a specific lactam derivative as an active ingredient and useful for the treatment of depression. CONSTITUTION: This medicament contains a compound of formula I [Im is an imidazolyl group of formula II or III (one of R<2> to R<4> is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 3-6C alkenyl, phenyl, etc.; and the others are each H, a 1-6C alkyl); R<1> is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 3-6C alkenyl, a 3-10C alkenyl, phenyl, etc.; (n) is 2, 3] or its salt or its solvate as an active ingredient, and other conventional additives, and is obtained by a conventional preparation method. The active ingredient is administered at a dose of 0.001-100mg/unit/70kg of a body weight once to four times a day. The compound of formula I includes 2,3,4,5- tetrahydro-5-(phenylmethyl)-2-[(5-methyl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)methyl]-1H-p yrido[4,3- b]indol-1-one.
