PURPOSE: To prevent malfunction by incorporating such a construction that an emptiness sensor is installed in the accommodation/takeout position for a cartridge accommodation drum for micro-films.
CONSTITUTION: An accommodation drum 1 is rotated by a stepping motor, and locates the cartridge accommodation room 7 for a specified accommodation address, which is identified by a code plate, in the accommodation/takeout position 8. If there is no cartridge 13 in the accommodation room 7, the beam from a light source 10 reaches a photo-element 11 to give information that an empty place is available in the accummodation chamber 7. If any cartridge 13 is accommodated by the chamber 7, the beam 10 does not reach the photo-element 11 to indicate that the chamber is occupied. This arrangement can well prevent malfunction.
