Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type discriminating system and method and a drum, which make it possible to discriminate drum types automatically and manage the drum types and which gives convenience to customers.
SOLUTION: The system comprises a reading device 120, a type discriminating device 181, and a drum type display device 130. The type of each drum is discriminated by reading a discriminating mark 165 indicating the type of the drum, shown on a display piece 170 which is to be removed before shipment. Then, a type mark is put on the drum. This enables automatic discrimination of the drum types and management of the drum types. In addition, the discriminating mark and type specifying display that shows the type of the drum are applied with a stencil mark sheet. This prevents a mismatch between the type specifying display and the type mark, or the drum type.
