To provide a drum-type elevator that can stably move up and down by connecting and fixing both ends of a car using ropes, respectively.
A drum-type elevator includes: a first rope 15 connected and fixed to one end 7a side of a car 7; a second rope 17 connected and fixed to the other end 7b side; a winding machine 26 including a winding drum 24 having a first groove 24a which winds the first rope 15 and a second groove 24b which winds the second rope 17; a first return car 32 that is withdrawn from the winding drum 24, that changes directions by drooping the second rope 17 downwardly, and that is provided at the lower part on the one end 7a side; a second return car 34 that is changes directions of the directions of the second rope 17 withdrawn from the first return car 32 and that is provided in an upper part 5u of a hoistway; and a third return car 36 that changes the directions of the second rope 17 withdrawn from the second return car 34 and that is provided in the upper part 5u of the hoistway. The second rope 17 is withdrawn from the third return car 36, drooped downwardly, and connected and fixed to the other end 7b side.
