To provide a drum type washing machine of simple structure.
This drum type washing machine is provided with an outer tank 3, and a drum 2 disposed inside the outer tank 3 to contain the laundry. The drum is rotatable around a roughly horizontal rotation shaft 27. On a back wall 22 of the drum 2, six separate boxes as water storage tanks 9 are mounted at a constant angular interval around the rotation shaft 27. Each water storage tank 9 has an opening 18 in a surface facing the rotation shaft 27. In washing or rinsing, water is stored in the outer tank 3 to the three - fourth level from the lower side, and the drum 2 is controlled to be rotated at such a rotation frequency that water in the water storage tanks 9 is held by centrifugal force. The time required from washing to drying can be reduced.
