To achieve a drum type washing machine allowing the prevention of automatic turn-off by an inverter circuit failure or abnormally high voltage detection while keeping optimum brake control without an influence of dispersion during assembly by correcting a phase command of brake pattern based on stored phase difference information.
A DC power of a rectification circuit 3 connected to an AC power source 1 is converted to an AC power by the inverter circuit 4 so as to drive a motor 5. A rotor position of the motor 5 is detected by a rotor position detecting means 6 and a phase difference between a measured induced voltage of the motor 5 and an output signal from the rotor position detecting means 6 is stored in a storage means 15. A control means 10 corrects a phase command of the brake pattern based on the stored phase difference for brake control.
